The Pontiac Montana emerged as a variation on the American automaker’s Trans Sport minivan in 1997. By adding new features to a reasonable popular design, Pontiac was able to transition the model without “discontinuing” it. Though the design was popular in Canada and Mexico, Pontiac elected to discontinue the Montana in the United States, as American consumers were showing little interest in the minivan. And, though sales were reasonable elsewhere, General Motors began phasing out the Pontiac moniker in 2010, marking the end of the Pontiac Montana.
