2001-2007 Ford Escape Door Handle (Interior) Replacement Instructions, Install, Change (2002 2003 2004 2005 2006)

Tools required:

Phillips screwdriver

Flathead screwdriver (small)

Step 1: Pry and remove the screw cover inside the interior door handle. Loosen and remove the Phillips screw (1).

Step 2: Pry and remove the screw cover just beneath the side mirror mounting area. Loosen and remove the Phillips screw (1).

Step 3: Loosen and remove the Phillips screw (1) inside the interior door pull, and the Phillips screw (1) on the rear end of the interior door panel.

Step 4: Pry and remove the interior door handle's bezel.

Step 5: Pry and remove the interior door panel.

A series of retaining clips hold the door panel to the vehicle. You will hear them â€œpopâ€ as they disengage.

Step 6: Pull near the front of the interior door handle assembly to release it from the door. Disengage the locking cable.

Step 7: Attach the locking cable to the new interior door handle assembly, and slide it into place.

You will hear it â€œsnapâ€ into place.

Step 8: Reattach the interior door panel.

Be sure to attach the wiring harnesses, tighten the Phillips screws (4), and re-engage all of the retaining clips!
