Step 2: Locate the belt tensioner assembly on the FRONT of the engine.
Step 3: Using the 3/8 drive ratchet handle, insert the square peg into the opening on the tensioner and turn it CLOCKWISE. This releases the tension on the belt, allowing for its removal.
NOTE: If your serpentine belt looks frayed or worn, we recommend replacing it. After all, with the belt removed for this installation, it'll never be easier than it is right now!
Step 4: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolt (1) that secures the belt tensioner to the vehicle. You can now remove the tensioner.
Step 5: Mount the new belt tensioner assembly by tightening the 10mm bolt (1).
Step 6: Using the belt routing diagram posted near the radiator, on the UNDERSIDE of the hood, or in the owner's manual, route the serpentine belt around the proper pulleys.
Step 7: Once the belt is in place, use the 3/8 drive ratchet handle to turn the tensioner COUNTER CLOCKWISE, increasing the tension on the belt.
NOTE: The belt should be taut, but not stretched or overly tight!
