2000-2007 Ford Taurus 3.0L, V6 Alternator Replacement Instructions, Install, Change (2001 2002 2003 2004 2005 2006)

Tools required:

10mm socket/ratchet

13mm socket/ratchet

15mm socket/ratchet

15mm wrench (with lever)

Flathead screwdriver

Step 1: Open the vehicle's hood and disconnect the vehicle's negative battery cable.

Step 2: Using the 15mm wrench with a lever, loosen the belt tensioner, allowing for the removal of the serpentine belt.

Step 3: Disconnect the alternator's wiring harness (1).

Step 4: Loosen and remove the 10mm bolt (1) near the top of the alternator.

Step 5: Loosen and remove the 13mm bolt (1) that secures the brace just above the alternator.

Step 6: Loosen and remove the 15mm mounting bolt (1) that holds the alternator to its mounting attachment.

Step 7: Loosen and remove the 13mm mounting bolt (1) near the backside of the alternator.

Step 8: You can now pry and remove the alternator from the vehicle.

Step 9: Mount the new alternator by tightening the 13mm and 15mm mounting bolts (2).

Step 10: Tighten the 10mm mounting bolt (1) near the top of the radiator.

Step 11: Tighten the 13mm bolt (1) that secures the brace to the assembly.

Step 12: Connect the alternator's wiring harness (1).

Step 13: Reattach the serpentine belt by tightening the 15mm bolt (1) that secures the belt tensioner.

NOTE: Use the diagram inside posted under the hood to properly place the serpentine belt.
