How do you Change, Replace, or Install 1999-2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Tailgate Support Strut Replacement

Tools required:

T40 Torx Bit/ratchet with extension

Step 1: Open the vehicle's rear door.

Prop the door up using a long 2.4 or a broomstick. Obviously, we're changing the support struts for a reason!

Step 2: Loosen and remove the T40 Torx screws (2) on either end of the support strut.

There is one screw on each end!

Step 3: You can now remove the support strut from the vehicle.

Step 4: Mount the new tailgate strut by tightening the T40 screws (2) on each end of the strut.

NOTE: The â€œrodâ€ end of the strut faces DOWN. The â€œsleeveâ€ end of the strut faces UP.

Step 5: Repeat this process for the other side.
