NOTE: Obviously, if you are replacing the support struts, the hood doesn't stay up on its own. Be sure to have a long support, such as a 2x4, or an assistant for this installation. Also, we always recommend replacing the support struts in PAIRS, as once one begins to fail, the other usually isn't far behind.
Step 2: Using the flathead screwdriver, disengage the retaining clip (1) at EACH END of the support strut.
Step 3: You can now remove the support strut from the vehicle.
Step 4: Before installing the NEW support strut, be sure that the retaining clips are DOWN. You can now “snap†each end into position.
NOTE: The “sleeve†end of the support strut attaches to the HOOD. The “rod†end attaches to the vehicle.
Step 5: Repeat this process for the other side's support strut.
