Step 2: Using the jack, lift the vehicle. Support it with the stands.
Step 3: Use the needle-nose pliers to pry and remove the retaining clips (inside the wheel well) that hold the “flaps†closed. By opening these flaps, you can access the spark plugs.
NOTE: When replacing spark plugs, be sure to replace ALL OF THEM at the same time. However, during the installation, we'll be replacing them ONE AT A TIME. In other words, we'll complete the installation for one plug, THEN move onto the next. This ensures that our plug wires don't get “crossedâ€.
Step 4: Twist and remove the spark plug wire from the first spark plug. Using the 5/8 spark plug socket/ratchet, loosen and remove the first spark plug.
Step 5: Most spark plugs come “gappedâ€. However, just to be sure, use a “gapping tool†to measure the plug gap to .060.
Step 6: Tighten the NEW spark plug into place. Be sure not to OVERTIGHTEN it.
Step 7: Connect the spark plug wire to the spark plug.
Step 8: Repeat this process for the remaining spark plugs.
