Step 1: Remove the panel covering the side mirror mount.
Use your flathead screwdriver.
Step 2: Using the flathead screwdriver, pry and remove the plastic door handle casing.
Step 3: Remove the 4 screw covers with the flathead screwdriver.
These covers are located on the interior of the door panel. Two will be near the door hinge, one just above the window control panel, and one just below the door-mounted arm rest.
Step 5: Remove the 5 retaining screws that help to hold the door panel in place.
Step 6: Locate and depress the two retaining pins that are at the end of the door panel.
To remove these pins, use the screwdriver to depress the center of the pins, and then pry them loose.
Step 7: Remove the 4 retaining pins along the bottom of the interior door panel.
Step 8: You can now remove the door panel.
Step 9: Disconnect the window control panel's electrical harness.
Step 10: Remove the small circular cover in the upper corner of the door frame.
Step 11: Locate the 10mm bolts that hold the door handle in place and remove them.
Step 12: Release the yellow clip that is inside the door frame.
This clip is located just on the inside of the exterior door handle.
Step 13: You can now pull the exterior door handle from the door.
As you are pulling the door handle out, you will need to disconnect one more clip.
Step 14: Using the 10mm socket, remove the lock from the old handle and attach to your new one.
Step 15: Slide the new handle into the door.
Attach the clip to push the door handle into place.
Step 16: Using the 10mm socket, replace the retaining bolts to secure the new door handle into place.
You are now working from the INTERIOR of the door.
Step 17: Reattach the rod and clip on the interior of the door frame.
These components are found just inside the door handle.
NOTE: The water shield is the plastic sheet that lies beneath the door panel. Be careful not to tear it. When reattaching it, if the sticky adhesive has lost its touch, you can use tape to reattach it!
Step 18: Replace the door panel.
Replace all clips and screws to secure the door panel.
Step 19: Reconnect the electrical harness for the window control panel (and speaker, if necessary), and reattach the panel and door handle casing.
